When my daughter was born in 2022, I didn’t want to spend another three years changing diapers on the floor or the couch. But I also couldn’t stand the idea of buying more baby gear that would eventually end up in a landfill. So I built this changing station with a longer life in mind—one that would grow with her, eventually becoming a dresser she might take to her first apartment one day. Staying true to The Giving Tree spirit, it’s made from an ash tree that once stood in our backyard before it was lost to the eastern ash borer (see image below)
