About

Ari Kardasis has followed an unconventional path, moving fluidly between mathematics, design, and hands-on craft. A natural talent for math led him to study it intensively at Brown, but by the time he graduated, he found himself burned out—adrift in abstraction. Seeking something more tangible, he pivoted to cooking, working in high-end kitchens in New York City before changing course again and enrolling in graduate school for architecture.

He earned a professional degree at Princeton and later joined a research program at MIT, where he explored the intersection of design and computation. His mathematical background, closely tied to computer science and programming, led him to start two tech companies, working as a software engineer and helping build early-stage products. He went on to work with several startups before eventually taking a “real job” as a software engineer at Amazon.

Though his career has spanned multiple fields, a fascination with mathematical ideas—and the tools that bring them to life—has been a constant. Whether sketching with pencil and paper or working with cutting-edge digital fabrication, he remains deeply engaged with the process of translating abstract thought into physical form.

Ari lives in the Hudson Valley, where he works with local materials—often sourced from his own backyard—in a way that is both sustainable and intentional.
